Beth Houlbrooke Councillor for Rodney Beth Houlbrooke is the current Deputy Chair of the Rodney Local Board. Well known for her dedication to community causes and with nine years of council governance experience, she understands the issues facing Rodney and how to solve them. She sees the key concerns for Rodney being lack of infrastructure, poor roading, and inadequate funding. Rodney has only one councillor out of 20 in Auckland. To make progress on our issues our representative must work with a majority of councillors, and the mayor. Currently, this is not happening as our current councillor has been oppositional in his style, leaving him with too few allies in council to get the results that Rodney so desperately needs. Over her three terms on the local board, Beth has honed her political skills to achieve unprecedented results for the Warkworth subdivision. She has built up a wealth of knowledge and relationships with key council staff and other politicians at both local and central government levels. Her work ethic is second to none, rarely misses a meeting, and always follows up on constituent enquiries in a timely and effective manner. Beth will bring these proven skills to the Council table. As Councillor, Beth would focus on collaboration rather than confrontation, using her vote to get results for Rodney, unlocking funding for rural roads, and dealing with the infrastructure crisis caused by massive residential growth across Rodney. A resident of the Warkworth area for over 28 years, before her election to the Local Board in 2013 Beth was an award-winning businesswoman in the transport industry, a farmer, and a local business owner. |
